Abstract

Agriculture society still tightly hold traditional plantation which is believed to bring abundant harvest. On the other side, society has peaceful and calm life. In the tea plantation area, farmers always perform ritual celebration as manifestation of gratitude to God for the abundant harvest. Besides sesajen as symbol of gift for gods, Dewi Sri mantra also holds significant role and be part of the traditional procession. Dewi Sri mantra in the Bedhoyo Pucuk Putri dance performance has great influence to unite people with the value of gotong-royong (supporting each other). The research about Dewi Sri mantras on Bedhoyo Putri dance performance is analyzed using sociolinguistic approach to find language phenomena to be able to give impact in nature preservation of the tea plantation in Kemuning. There are found four language styles, such as frozen, formal, intimate, and consultative and four register style functions, such as emotive, conative, poetic, and metalingual. Those are found from the study of Dewi Sri mantras in Bedhoyo Pucuk Putri dance in the area of the tea plantation, Kemuning, Karangayar.
