Megeng Sasi Kapitu Ritual as a Means of Environmental Balance in Tengger Area

Abstract

The development paradigm that prioritizes economic growth and exploitation of natural resources has now arrived at the conservation area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. In contrast, custom society especially Dukun Pandita Tengger have a ritual called Megeng Sasi Kapitu for either ngleremen mantra or universe from all its activity. This research novelty situated on the holistic and comprehensive ritual series of Megeng Sasi Kapitu. This study aims at analyzing and finding traditional knowledge which is held hereditary by all Dukun Pandita Tengger. This study uses ethnographic approach by James Spradley with Creswell spiral model data analysis technique. The result shows there is synergy between customary holders and stakeholders in maintaining universe balance in Tengger area.
