Abstract

Javanese culture is related to the element of the earth. Their way of life is focus on creating a harmony between himself as a human being and nature as a wider unit. Javanese society maintain their relations with the nature by using ani-ani during the process of harvesting rice in the fields. The concept of respect for Dewi Sri or Dewi Padi by the Javanese society is basis of their cultural practice. Protecting Dewi Sri is the same as protecting nature. Vice versa. This study aims to interpret the ani-ani collection from Museum and Cultural Heritage. This collection is not only seen as a material object, but also has deep meaning especially for the cultural actors. This research is using qualitative based on ani-ani collection from Museum and Cagar Budaya from Java especially Central Java.
